Just Be You.....

Today I am sharing with you one of the layouts I completed for a Guest DT Call I entered. Won't know for about a week if I made it or not, but wanted to share this layout now. I created this layout using the Etc. Collection from Bo Bunny. I picked this line because the theme of the papers and stickers went perfectly with my pictures. Flowers and ribbon are a mix from Petaloo, Prima, and Maya Road. Also used were Prima Clear Stamp (Paintable Grid), Viva Decor Pearl Pen (Gold), TH Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy), and Making Memories Metal Mesh.

These are pictures from the start and end of the race. I have been running since junior high when I was first able to run track in school. I started running because my older sister ran and of course anything she did I had to do! Today I run because it gives me time to get away and clear my head. Plus its also good for my health. It was always a dream of mine to run a marathon and now I have. It was not easy on me or my family, but no matter what I stayed committed and was able to accomplish my goal.

Sherrie

Running a marathon.....

Two days ago on Sunday, October 16th, I ran my very first marathon. It was the Columbus Marathon in Columbus, Ohio. For me it was not about place or time. I am not a speed demon and not really a fan of distance running. For me it was just about being able to accomplish this and say that I finished. Less than 1% of the population has ever completed a marathon. My only two desires during the whole process were to finish in the allowed time (max of 7 hours) and to do it under my own power. I was able to jog across the finish line in 5hrs 27min. I hit "the wall" as marathoners like to say at mile 24. And those last 2.2 miles were rough. I had run almost the entire race with one lady whom I found out is from the same town as me. But at mile 24 I told her to go on because I didn't want to hold her back. It was then that my husband found me and ended up running the last 1.5 miles (minus the finish line chute) with me and I am so glad he did. He and my best friend Shirely, who came with us, helped me a lot before and after the race. I also got another suprise at the finish to find out that my sister, brother-in-law, and niece were all waiting for me too. Yes, I am sore and hurting but that will go away, but the feeling I got when I crossed that finish line never will. It is something that no one will ever be able to take away from me.
Here are some pictures from race day. Sorry they aren't the best but they were all taken with my husbands phone. Shirley took tons of photos with her awesome camera but I haven't gotten copies of them yet.
Getting ready at the hotel and my cheer squad! Check out them awesome running tights that I borrowed from Shirley!

Getting instructions from my pace team leader. She was awesome and kept us motivated.

And at the end. Hard to believe that I actually ran 26.2 miles and could still be smiling! Thanks to everyone for your support and words of encouragement. It was all greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Sherrie!

Sketch Challenge

Recently I have been spending some of my on-line time at My Creative Scrapbook. For those of you that have never visited it you really should. They have an awesome gallery, forum, and blog. They also have a second bog now that is My Creative Sketches. Currently My Creative Sketches is hosting a Big Sketch/Fall Challenge. The first sketch is based on a layout by Kim Keane.
Here is my take of the sketch. This is actually the first time I have ever used a sketch and I really enjoyed it.

Here are some close-ups
I will get a different sketch in November and December and will create layouts based on those sketches. They are giving away amazing prizes to the winners. So crossing my fingers and toes!!

Thanks for stopping by,

And The Winner Is.....

So excited to announce that I was the winner of an Ad Challenge at C'est Magnifique.  When I saw the challenge I was so excited because if you know me very well you know that my FAVORITE color is yellow.
I had recently gotten paper from my LSS from the Blissful Collection by Authentique and new it would be perfect.
Here was my submission.
I have so much yellow stuff it is almost borderline obsessive! But thanks to C'est Magnifique for picking my layout and I can't wait to get my RAK!

Thanks for stopping by,
Sherrie.
