Tick-or-Treat

My September 2011 DT project for my LSS involved using the new Halloween line from Canvas Corp. I was so excited to use the Kraft and corrugated paper and I knew just the pictures I wanted to use.

Some people just never want to grow up! Last year my DD (who was 19 at the time) decided she wanted to go trick-or-treating with our nephew Seth. And of course she had to dress-up too. So with some help from her Grandma Chris they came up with this great Batman costume for her to wear.

Chalkboard & Flowers

Here are the last two projects that I gave you sneaks on. The first was just a plain wooden chalkboard that I purchased from my LSS (The Scrapbook Outlet also known as Cupboard Distributing).
To start with I painted the wood a dark brown to match the brown in the patterned paper I was using. I did this because I did not cover the sides with paper. After applying two coats and letting it dry, I then laid the board down on the paper and traced the outline which I then cut out. To cut out the inside I just measured the distance between the chalkboard and the edge of the wood trim and used a craft knife to make the inside cut. I used modge podge glue to adhere the paper to the wood.

For the insides of the bottle caps I just punched out circles from the left over paper that would fit inside. I then used foam dots behind the alphabet letters to give them some dimension inside the caps.

Supply List:
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey - Urban Couture (Merino)

The second project was making flowers out of a sheet of 12x12 patterned paper. I came across these flowers while on the Graphic45's website and loved them. The original design is by Dana Parlevliet. These are like the easiest thing to make!

Progreso International Bridge (Texas-Mexico)

Anytime we go visit my parents, who about 6 years ago moved to south Texas (from Ohio), we always spend one day shopping across the boarder in Progreso, Mexico. We park our vehicles in a parking lot and then walk across the Progreso International Bridge into Mexico. I would not want to drive across and then fight traffic. Mainly we just go across to do some shopping for gifts. Its always fun to see what everyone has for sale. For someone who hates crowds, I do enjoy going here. The part I hate though is when we are walking across the bridge and as soon as we get onto the Mexican side of the Rio Grande River there is always Mexicans, typically young children, standing under the bridge holding out hats asking for spare change.
These are pictures from the first time Brian came with me to Texas and we went into Mexico. My parents are the two people on the electric carts in the first picture with Brian.

This layout was a big change for me because I had never done a circle layout before (at least not where I didn't layer it onto another sheet of 12x12 paper). This was actually a 12x12 sheet of paper that I traced a large circle onto. I then cut out the circle and then used a Martha Stuart punch to make the decorative edge.

Seth and his John Deere

Seth loves anything tractor but his favorite of course is John Deere! Since he was old enough to know what a tractor was his Grandpa Phil has been teaching him all about them. Here he is driving his pedal John Deere tractor in his driveway. I thought it was so cute that he was backing up and watching where he was going.
I inked the edeges of the photos and paper with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

The flowers are made out of recycled dryer sheets and colored with Tim Holtz® Adirondack® Color Wash. I aslo used Tim Holtz® Idea-ology™ | Findings Sprocket Gears on the layout to go with the theme of the pictures. I am also really getting into sewing on my layouts using my sewing machine and not just doing faux stitching.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look,
Sherrie.
