Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by the WOW! blog today. Today I am going to share with you my very first canvas project ever. I have been seeing tons of these lately and finally decided to give one a try!!

Our oldest God Daughter had her first child on Easter Sunday and I made this for her and her husband to hang in their house (if they like it....). So I started off with a plain white 5x7 canvas. I took a few sheets of some older Basic Grey paper that I had laying around and torn them into strips. Using Mod Podge glue I layered the paper strips onto the canvas. Next I took gesso and painted it on top of the paper strips. I sprayed the gesso with water to thin it down so the paper could show through more. Once that was dried I used my embossing stamp pad and inked the entire canvas. I then covered it with Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Powder. After heat setting the powder I then took the heart boarder stamp from the Gratitude Stamp set and randomly stamped the hearts on the canvas using the Jet Black StazOn ink pad.

I just love how the whole thing just sparkles from using the Neutral Ultra Shimmer on top of the background paper. After that I just added some embellishments and a picture of their precious new little boy and it was done! I can't wait to give it to them. Now I am on the hunt for a good shadow box frame to put it in.

Lucky Me....

I am super excited to say I am finally back with a new post...I'm a bit rusty so hopefully all goes well!

Today I am going to share with you a layout I created using products from Little Yellow Bicycle, WOW! Embossing Powders, Freckle Fawn, and Tim Holtz. Since its March and that means St. Patricks Day and these pictures were taken when the family was altogether celebrating St. Patricks Day I decided to use them to create a layout for this months DT Project.

A few years back we made a deal with our kids, nieces, and nephews that if they could go the entire first year that they had their drivers license without getting any type of ticket (speeding, parking, etc) or in an accident that was their fault...at the end of that year we would give them $100. And let me tell you it was obviously a great incentive because we had to pay up with my two kids or our niece!! We still have another niece and nephew to go but we are 3 for 3 so far. Of course we couldn't just hand them the money, we had to make it a challenge. We found these awesome puzzle cubes where you put the money in the middle and closed it up. They then had to move the ball through the cube maze to the end to get the cube back open. It was so much fun seeing them struggle to solve the puzzle!!

I incorporated WOW! Embossing Powders into this layout on the strip of corrugated cardboard that I mounted the sequence of pictures onto. First I brushed on some white Gesso onto the cardboard and let it dry completely. Then I took my embossing ink pad and pressed it onto the cardboard. I used my WOW! Embossing Pen down in the groves to make sure some of the embossing powder got down in those areas too. I first sprinkled Metalline Green, tapped off the extra, and then heat set it. I went back and repeated these steps but this time sprinkled Earthtone Blueberry.

What an easy way to add dimension, depth, and color to your layout. I am super pleased with the result!!

Christmas Ornaments

Embossing Holiday Ornaments & Cones is this months theme for my teams group post at WOW! Embossing Powders.



I started with a 4" Rusty Tin Tree Ornament and a 1" Rusty Tin Star. I started by embossing the entire tree shape with Tea Garden Green Embossing Powder from the Suzy West Bay Area Collection. On top of the heat-embossed green, I then added a layer of Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Powder to give the tree a holiday shine. I wanted to add a little texture and make the ornament even more wintery so I used some Snowtex along the edges of the tree.  Finally I  wrapped the tree with Tim Holtz tinsel and a super cute itty bitty string of bulbs she found at her local craft store.



The Merry Christmas banner was first cut from a piece of chipboard and painted white. “Merry Christmas” was then stamped on the white chipboard and then embossed with Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Powder.



The 1” Rusty Star was embossed with WOW! Gold Embossing Powder. A little bit of Snowtex was then added to the banner, tinsel, bulb string, and on the star.

Skateboard

Hi and thanks for visiting my blog, so glad to have you here!

So today I am going to share with you a layout I created for WOW! of our nephew Seth playing with a skateboard (minus the wheels) that we had gotten for our son a few years back for Christmas. When this picture was taken our son was actually really big into skateboarding and so you couldn't just go buy a pre-made skateboard, you had to buy the stuff in pieces to get it exactly how he wanted it. So glad that phase didn't last too long (only a few years....hehe)!!

So I started out with just a white piece of cardstock and using the 12x12 Tile Texture template from The Crafter's Workshop, embossed the cardstock using Bodacious Blue Embossing Powder from the Suzy West Glitter Collection. I just love how the background turned out. I think by embossing it, it added just enough color to the white spaces.



I really like using templates/stencils to create a pattern on my backgrounds and then embossing them. Many crafters will use templates/stencils to create background patters using mists or inks but have you tried embossing with them? If not you really should give it a try!!
