Camping Trip

Happy Friday!!

Today I want to share with you a layout I made where I actually combined my design team projects for WOW! Embossing Powders and The Scrapbook Outlet. For WOW! I was given the task of embossing on ribbon. Now I had never tried this before and actually had not seen it either. I have seen people stamp on ribbon, but never emboss. But I like a challenge so I was excited to give it a try. And for The Scrapbook Outlet I was given the awesome Bo Bunny Camp-A-Lot Collection to create a two-page layout with. I was supper excited to have received the Camp-A-Lot Collection because my husband had taken our nephew camping last year and those pictures would work perfectly.
And I must say I have an amazing husband because he made sure they took plenty of pictures (with his iPhone actually) for me to scrap later!!

Here are some close-ups of the embossed ribbon.

I picked a plain cream colored twill that was about 1.5" wide and using the loop boarder stamp from the WOW! Gratitude Stamp Set, I stamped the image in three rows. I then covered them with Earthtone Pepper Embossing Powder from the Suzy West Pantry Collection. The tricky part was getting all the excess powder off the ribbon. The powder actually melted really quickly on the ribbon. I decided to brighten it up a bit though by adding the multi-colored ribbon down the middle, which I attached down by stitching a zig-zag pattern on with my sewing machine. I absolutely love how it turned out!!

If you have never tried embossing on ribbon you should really give it a try. I know I can't wait to do it again.

Warmly,
Sherrie!!

Acetate Shapes

Happy Sunday and thanks for stopping by the WOW! blog today to see what we have to share.

Today I am going share with you a layout that I created where I embossed, using Neutral Ultra Shimmer and Black Glint, the ultra thick acetate flowers and flower metal brads. I am always on the lookout for new things to use my embossing powders on. I love trying new surfaces and learning new ways to use my embossing powders. This is the first time I have ever embossed on ultra thick acetate shapes.

I was a little nervous about what would happen to the acetate shapes once I started heating the embossing powder. My fear was they would warp or curl up and then would not flatten back out. So when I was ready to heat them I laid them flat on my craft sheet and gently applied pressure to keep them in place with a craft pick. I made sure my heat gun was good and hot before putting over the shapes. Once the heat was being applied the petals did want to curl up but I found that if I left the heat on it just a bit longer they flattened back out. I left them lay flat till they were nice a cool before trying to move so that they could harden back up flat. And it worked perfectly!!

So don't be afraid to try new things and if at first it does not work, try it again!!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Warmly,
Sherrie!!
